More Images At The Bottom Of This Listing. Beautiful Georgian antique sterling silver teapot by the renowned makers Peter Bateman & Ann Bateman 1793. This sort after George III silver teapot is in oval form with crisp bright cut engraining to both body & lid.
Both side panels are engraved with elaborate cartouche with single letter monogram letter "P" Dense border drapery engraved detail to top perimeter, detailed flora hand engraving to base perimeter. The lid is topped with a pineapple finial & detailed cut pineapple leaves. The lid & surrounding perimeter are hand engraved with leaf & pricked boarders.The hinge is of flush design with engraving detail running over. The Handle is made from fruitwood with thumb rests incorporated. Both the lid & base of this teapot are assayed by London assay office, base marked with full set of assay marks, lid marked with maker & passant mark. The sterling silver teapot lid sits neatly into the lid recess with the hinge having zero play. The body is free from dents & major scratches, fine marks representative of age. Engraving is crisp & well defined with little rubbing.
The fruitwood handle sits tight in the ferrules with retaining pins secure. Teapot spout is in good order with a very small dent halfway down to the underside, of little detriment. Teapot sits flat & level, base front lip having a small indent, of minimal detriment.
