English Sterling Silver Georgian Cruet Set Thomas Settle & Robert Hennell 1814

ENGLISH STERLING SILVER 5 BOTTLE CRUET SET 1814. JOHN & THOMAS SETTLE & ROBERT HENNELL III. Pleased to offer this wonderful example of Georgian silver in the form of a rectangular footed cruet set. Of classic regency design of a raised slope oval rectangular base, with a gadrooned rounded border edge.

Standing on four acanthus leaf shell capped feet. Central ring handle post with a small blank vacant cartouche half way up the handle.

Underneath on the base all 5 lock nuts are original, and marked for sterling. An interesting cruet set with the stand and 3 bottles made in 1814... The first year John & Thomas Settle registered with the Sheffield assay office, and the last year that John Roberts & Co made pieces. 1814 was the transition year that Settle left John Roberts... And with his bother John Settle...

This is why some bottles are made by Roberts, and the base stand and one bottle were made by Thomas and his brother John, However, the 2 Robert Hennell, bottles were obviously an addition later when the original bottles were lost or broken. The cruet set measures 9 1/2 inches long by 7 inches wide and stands 1 1/4 inches tall and 10 inches tall to handle. The base weighs 585 grams (1.3lbs) not including the tops. 3 bottles are original to the base. Crystal mustard pot by John & Thomas Settle, 2 bottles made by John Roberts, Samuel Mosley, & Thomas Settle 1814, 2 bottles made by Robert Hennell III 1879.

The bottles are in amazing condition based on age and use. Normally, all cruet bottles have some chips, cracks, and damage... Perfect for display or use.

John Roberts & Co {John Roberts, Samuel Mosley & John Settle} (bottles). John & Thomas Settle (stand). 1814..1825 (registered Jan 1815).
