Fine Georgian George III Solid Sterling Silver Pair Of Wine Coasters London 1803

Description: A superb Antique English Georgian George III solid sterling silver pair of wine coasters. They both have a circular shaped body which are beautifully hand engraved with decoration to the border. The patterns are of wiggle work and a band of trailing foliate tied ovals. They both come with an empty shield shaped cartouche to the centre and have a lovely reeded border to the rim.

They are fitted with a turned wooden base and the underneath is lined with a green coloured lining to protect your table from scratches. They are both hallmarked with a full set of matching English hallmarks. A very impressive pair of Georgian wine coasters which are 216 years of age. They are the real deal not a modern reproduction. They are a fabulous pair which would make a wonderful addition to anyones collection.

Maker & Date Hallmark: Maker William Abdy II (Registered September 1790). Date hallmark 1803 and assay hallmark London. Measurements: Height 3.5 cm, Diameter across top 12.6 cm and base 12.6 cm.

Interiors depth 2.7 cm. Weights: One weighs 170 grams and other 160 grams. Condition: Excellent condition for their age with only some light wear from use and age. One of the coasters is in excellent condition with no dents, dings, splits, holes, knocks or repairs.

The wooden base is nice and tightly not loose. The green material to the underneath is in very good condition. The other does have some slight wear and small dings but nothing major. The wooden base is slightly loose. The hallmarks to the bottom of the bases are excellent for their age with only some slight wear but are very readable and clear.

Which are normally very worn or unreadable on wine coasters so this is excellent to find. They both match up same maker, assay and date hallmark. They are not engraved with any presentation inscription, initials, monograms, family crest marks or have anything erased. The wooden bases are in excellent clean condition for their age.

Overall a splendid matching pair which are ready to be added to your collection. All my items listed are well cleaned before listing. Any strange marks/shadows in pictures are reflections not damage.
