This ring appears to be the later from the weighted and tapered design of the silver and general examination of the ring. There is a slight asymmetry from left to right resulting from use over an extended time as an archers ring. On one side the border is 1.5mm wide and the other 1.2mm wide as measured with a vernier gauge. It is a size 11 1/4 US. It can't be resized but could be worn around the neck strung on leather if so desired as a special adornment and an amazing talking point.
The ring weighs 21.9 grams. The measurements of the ring are approximately 1 7/8" long by 1 3/16" wide (47.5mm x 30.5mm). Our best estimate to the date of this ring is from the mid 17th to the mid 19th Century or 1650 to 1850, as designs did not change significantly in this time it is not possible to be more specific. Perhaps an archery historian could place a more specific date on this rare ring. It is in good condition and is ready to gift or to wear.
This is an antique ring and has age appropriate patina from use as shown in the photographs. If a new appearance is desired of course a jeweler could polish away the patina to appear like new.
We have not done this due to the exceptional rarity of this early archers ring. The photographs form part of the description.A full appraisal will accompany this special antique ring.
