Georgian Irish silver sugar basket. Description: A fine 18th century (George III) Irish silver sugar basket by Richard Sawyers Dublin 1798. Swing handle (harp assay mark) on a pointed oval shell ribbed basket on a pointed oval stem foot. The piece has a very good set of crisp hallmarks on the base. Engraved with the monogram M. Richard Sawyer registered in 1797 as a silversmith at 2 Salus Cpurt, Fishamble Street, Dublin. His father was Francis Sawyer of West Haddlesey , Yorkshire who died in 1815. Dimensions: 20cms x 11cms x 14cms high to bowl point. Condition: Good with a good handle. Evidence of an professional and unobtrusive repair (see photographs).
