George IV, Georgian sterling silver oval footed sauce tureen. A truly important & incredibly fine piece of silver.
The body has sumptuously beautiful applied "rococo". Cartouches & elegant cast handles & feet. The detachable lid has additional rococo decorations. "CLEMENTIA ET ANIMIS" - In Latin.
Made in Sheffield , circa 1828 by top reputed maker of the time. Hallmark is struck on the base and on the side of the lid. Cut lid for gravy ladle.
FINE ANTIQUE GEORGIAN PERIOD STERLING SILVER SAUCE LADLE. MADE IN LONDON , CIRCA 1822.SIZE: 6 3/4" LONG, THE BOWL IS - 2 1/4" diameter. Engraved on it NOBLE CREST. Tureen Size: 8 3/4 accross. Weight: 30.42 Troy ounces (together). 871 + 75 = 946 grams of sterling.
