A small, fine quality double double hinged opening nutmeg grater box. Fully marked on interior of lid for IR (John Reily) a London silversmith, date letter b for 1817 and duty mark for George 111. The lid for the container for the nutmeg on base also marked with makers mark lion passant and date letter. Unusually there is an additional mark of a lion passant stamped to the front. The lid is engraved with an armorial crest with a crown with lion holding a posy?
With original punched iron grater (with loose grated nutmeg) and partially used nutmeg in base. Size approx 1.1/2 in x 1in (4 x 2.5cm).
Condition - excellent, but the armorial is somewhat worn- see photos or ask questions.
