Very fine rare Irish / Cork creamer. Irish silver made in Cork is very special and rare. This piece is very elegant and in perfect condition. The design is of pricked borders with a reeded rim and handle. There is an engraved frieze of swags, foliage and flowers. The inside of this Cork creamer is richly gilded and shows little sign of wear, which is unusually and valuable. The base is marked'STERLING' and with the mark of Cork silversmith ISAAC SOLOMON. There is no date letter, but the approximation is stated by auctioneers Lawrences of Crewkerne. This manner of marking will be found to be standard for silver made outside Dublin, such as Limerick and Cork who set there own standards but which comply with the same level of purity as Dublin silver.
