UNUSUAL HESTER BATEMAN STERLING SILVER BRIGHTCUT SUGAR TONGS c1780s GEORGIAN
Rare Georgian solid sterling silver bright cut sugar tongs. They are hallmarked with the lion passant mark, the Georgian mark and the makers mark HB for Hester Bateman one of the most famous English female silversmiths of the period. They have been beautifully bright cut very unusually with flowers in their arm cartouches (I've not seen this design before) and are engraved with the initials AL to their bow. They are in super condition being free from dings splits and repairs. Both arms are perfectly straight and highly sprung. They measure 5.25 inches (13cms) long by 1.75 inches (4.6cms) across the grips and weigh 32 grams. If you have any queries etc... To see lots more rare and beautiful silver.
