Very Rare Georgian George I Solid Sterling Silver Plain Tankard Mug London 1717
Description: A very impressive English Antique Georgian George I solid sterling silver tankard which has a tapering cylindrical shaped body, fitted with a splendid scroll shaped handle with a protruding thumb piece. The tankard has a spreading circular shaped base. Comes with a lovely plain body with no engraved presentation inscriptions, initials, monograms or family crest marks. The tankard is of Britannia standard which means 95.84% of fine silver. The tankard is hallmarked to the body with a full set of English Hallmarks and is fitted the original handle which is also Hallmarked with the makers mark. The tankard is of outstanding quality and is a true antique very hard to come by of this age.

Would make a delightful addition to a collection. A very fine example of 302 years of age. Maker & Date Hallmark: Maker Joseph Bell I (Registered Oct 1716).

Date hallmark 1717 and assay mark London. (Britannia Standard 95.84% Silver). Measurements: Height 10.3 cm, diameter across top 7.7 cm and diameter across base 9.3 cm. Weight: Silver weight 260 Grams. Condition: Excellent clean condition for its age with no dents, splits, holes, knocks or repairs.

Just some light surface marks and the odd tiny ding which is to be expected with its age and use. But nothing which is that noticeable or major. A great example for its 302 years of age.

The top and bottom rims are not pushed in or out of shape. Stands perfectly well with no wobble. The scroll shaped handle is in excellent condition just has some light dings but nothing major. The interior is in excellent clean condition.

The hallmarks are slightly rubbed but still mainly visible just whats to be expected with an object of this age. There are no engraved presentation inscriptions, initials, monograms or family crest marks. An engraving may of been possibly erased from the front at some time but has not caused any thinning. A stunning George I tankard of wonderful quality which is ready to be added to anyones collection. All my items listed are well cleaned before listing.
