Very rare Georgian sterling silver gilt vinaigrette, fully hallmarked for London 1806. This is a stunning quality and very rare silver gilt vinaigrette made by the royal silversmith to King George III, Paul Storr, in London 1806.
The vinaigrette is recangular in shape with rounded corners. The lid, underside and bottom half of the vinaigrette has fine basket weave decoration and the sides of the lid have linear engine turned decoration. The vinaigrette has a very finely chased and pierced grille with garlands of leaves, a shield to the centre with linear engine turning and wheel motifs to the two corners. The vinaigrette is 1-5/8 inches / 41 mm wide and 1-1/8 inches / 28 mm deep. The vinaigrette weighs 36 grams.
The inside rim of the base has clear hallmarks - lion passant, London mark, duty mark, letter L for 1806 and maker's mark PS for Paul Storr. The vinaigrette is in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair.
